Even if you haven't time to visit the gallery, you can drop in for a coffee with family or friends.

The Famous 1657 Chocolate House The Famous 1657 Chocolate House is an Aladdin's cave of hundreds of handpicked chocolates. It offers a large range of gifts, ideal for any special occasion. Enjoy locally-made ice cream with their own hot chocolate sauce, taste the 'World's Best Fudge' or, in season, you can even buy a chocolate plant (Cosmos atrosanguineus). There is also a café on site with an all-day sweet and savoury menu, and offering 20 different chocolate drinks and 14 handmade gateaux.

Farrer's Farrer's is an established tea and coffee merchants in the centre of town that has existed in Kendal for almost 100 years. It is one of the oldest independent blenders and roasters of the finest teas and coffee, with its own state-of-the-art coffee roasting plant on the Shap Road Industrial Estate on the edge of town (which you can visit by prior arrangement). There is a small café in the shop, and tea and coffee from Farrer's is provided in our accommodation.

The Quaker Tapestry Exhibition The Quaker Tapestry inspires all who visit. Often compared with the Bayeux Tapestry, this modern, internationally-created exhibition reveals a myriad of stories within 77 captivating and colour embroidery panels. Situated within a 19th Century meeting house, The Quaker Tapestry Exhibition also offers embroidery workshops and courses which share the secrets and skills used in the making of the Tapestry. The award-winning Tapestry Tearooms serve morning coffee, lunch, light bites and afternoon tea with a variety of delicious homemade cakes.
