Whether you are looking to get out on
the fells, or you're looking for something more gentle, the area
offers ample walking for all abilities.
Lancaster Canal Towpath Walk
The Lancaster Canal Towpath Walk between Lancaster and Kendal is 27 miles (43 kms) long and can be conveniently walked over two days, with time to enjoy the features of interest en route. It is one of the richest canals in the UK for wildlife. The walk may be started from either end or combined with other footpaths into short circular walks.

Limestone Link  The Limestone Link between Arnside and Kirkby Lonsdale is about 13 miles long and you are advise to allow a day to complete the walk and enjoy the many places of interest along the way. The route may be walked from either end, and the walk can be extended to include a visit to the 18th Century water-powered corn mill at Beetham. Heron Corn Mill, which is 10 minutes walk from the Limestone Link where it passes through Slackhead, is open daily expect Mondays from Easter to the end of September.
